7) Arc 3: Siege on Munich and the Earl of Equilibrium

Greetings my precious players. I am here now to bring you into the next arc. There will be two plots playing out in this arc. The first plot will take place in Munich Germany the second taking place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Both take place three days after the previous arc, making the date Wednesday, November 10th 2010. Here's the weather for both locations:

Munich: Sunny, 50 degrees Fahrenheit. There is no snow.

Sioux Falls: Partly cloudy, about 45 degrees Fahrenheit. There is just a light dusting of snow on some surfaces and it will not be snowing unless a character makes it so.

We are not acknowledging Day Light Savings Time. So, we must add seven hours to the time of Sioux Falls to get the time of Munich. The arc will start with the time of the villains in Mountain Time, one hour behind the heroes in Central time. The villains will start at 6 AM MT, and the heroes at 7 AM CT. When arriving in Munich, the villains will add eight hours, making it 2 PM Central European Time.

I now take you to Doctor Weird's Lab in the Badlands. The residents have all been allocated rooms of their own and are about to wake to Doctor Weird's request for a new mission. The previous few days he has been researching a mystical item called a Crystal Skull. Knowing that crystal works as a giant data storage device, Dr. Weird is determined to make one his own. He has come to the knowledge of one being located in Munich Germany. He knows it to have once belonged to Himler of the Nazi Army. The characters DO NOT know this yet, but the doctor will be splitting them into teams. The teams are: Azriel and Ike, Skylar and Dark Coyote, and Dr. Weird with Tang Le. Unfortunately, during some extreme training, Yilana has lapsed into a coma and is under Steve's watchful care.

At the NSS, Station 7 has adopted Nimo and has given the lad a crash course in physics to better grasp his power. Meltdown and Quantum are uneasy, knowing that Epoch still hasn't come home from the alien universe. Regardless, Aquilo has been made temporary leader of the Strike Force and Nimo has been added to the team. The two are being called to one of the science labs to be teleported to Sioux Falls where a sought after superbeing named Prosper is being held at the South Dakota State Penitentiary. Prosper is in solitary confinement.

In Munich, Stawberry is running an average afternoon at the Pratt Family Apothecary, unknowingly protecting the Crystal Skull.

Let us now join the players and see what happens next!

Ike laid wide awake staring at the ceiling. He'd been restless all night and crankiness was starting to kick in. I need to do something for my mind. Ike inhaled and began to think about his early solo antics. So many unsolved fires and spontaneous explosions that left people baffled. Ike smiled with the warming feel of fond memories.........that or the thought of all the fires.

I should mix up a little more of my own chaos in the world, that should make me feel better.

"Awww, no clashing of the cliques," Ike let out a sarcastic whimper. He jumped out of bed and began pacing the room. None the less moving on.

Ike found his radio and turned it on to the Youtube setting and hit its random tune in button.
Listening for a moment, he just remained expressionless then fell backwards on the floor laughing. "OH YES, I HOPE THIS WORKS!"

Dr. Weird was in his “War Room” looking at several screens planning. He had been up for a few hours, finishing his plans for today’s events. With his new abilities he could store vast amounts of information in his mind, but with everything that was happening he decided that he needed a back source just case anything were to happen. By chance he came across some information about a crystal skull located in somewhere in Munich Germany. It would be perfect for his needs. He just needed to find it now.

He had some days of rest and opportunities to try out his new skills. With all the excitement that had been going on a few days earlier he was relieved for the break in between to recharge. Within a few hours the others would be up shortly and they would be off in search of the crystal skull just like Harrison Ford, except without the Russians and the CG gophers.

Skylar rolls out of bed before hopping up and down a bit. He looked down to his legs then curled his toes up then letting them rest against the floor. He then stretched out his arms, legs, and back. He measured the room he was in and guessed to it being around 7 feet wide, long enough for him to try. He leans his body towards the opposite side of the room and kicked his leg against the wall.

Daniel knocked on Le's door before entering and wasn't surprised to not find her in her room. He sighed and settled the breakfast tray on his hip. "Steve? Do you happen to know which training room she's decided to hole up in today?"

"Miss Tang is in room 3. I can take you there if you'd like."

"Thank you, Steve." He went back out, closing the door with his foot as he hefted the tray back into both hands. "She really should wait so her food doesn't get cold," he grumbled to himself as he followed Steve's voice down the hallway.

I can feel it, just a little bit more and this Hammer should be stronger! Le thought to herself and concentrated on the dummy in front of her.

"Damnit!!!" Le screamed out as she slammed her fists against her thighs. She glared up at the dummy, wishing a little bit of poison would remove the crevice that make it look like it was smirking at her. "Try and try again, right Daddy?" she gritted out through firmly clenched teeth.

Alyson was placing a series of new books upon her shelves. She had a large number of customers that were buying them up rather quickly. It was still funny to her, even after all these years running the store, that people were more interested in the New Age fads and not too interested in the real craft. Sure, she had sales on certain potions, herbs, and spells during certain times of the year, (mostly during holidays) but she sort of felt lonely.

She had quite a success with the classes. It was a good thing. The only true low point was that no one had really become proficient. Even though her students had cycled, she worried they would never fully grasp it. Then again, none of them had such powerful ties to a goddess as she did.

"Where would you like your herbs?" Asked Erik, stepping in through the back door. He had become like family, and lately came to let himself in. Fievel rubbed up against his legs as he stood with a small armful.

"You can set them on the counter, Erik." Alyson replied. She watched him set them down and then bend to pet the cat. He smiled and bid Alyson farewell. The girl resumed stocking the shelves. She looked out the window, watching a few people pass by.

It seemed nice out. The cold didn't seem to deter anyone, especially when there hadn't been any significant snow. Alyson felt anxious, having a spell of cabin fever set in. If the day was slow, perhaps she'd close early and see the town.

Dark strained against the head of the new drone. The armor was alot stronger than the ones he had destroyed before. He had to brace it with his legs and lift with both arms, but he managed to rip the head off. He took a moment to rip out anything that wasn't bolted down.

He took a moment to collect himself then looked at the training room. 2 of the older drones where ripped apart another 4 wall turrets where ripped and there was a long scratch along the floor where dark had been dragging the drone around trying to break it's armor open.

He chuckled and sang "If you go into the woods tonight,
You'll be in for quite a fright.
If you go into the woods tonight,
You won't believe your eyes."

He was happy to have eaten a full dear earlier that morning. That was a great feast for him. He walked over to the door and knocked on it. It slid open and led him to the hall way. There a droid led him back to his room. He walked in and sat on the bed and relaxed. He would take a moment then see what else there was to do.

After a few moments he went into the shower. He took several moments to clean himself off in the warm water. It was nice to have food on demand and the ability to not have to worry about being hunted.



6:20 AM MT
Dr Wierd's lab Dark's room.

Dark walked out of the shower to find another droid holding out some clothing with Steve saying "I have taken the liberty to make some new clothing more akin to what you where wearing when you first arrived. I am positive you will find it more to your liking."

Dark looked over the clothing. A pair of jeans. A white t-shirt. a black hooded sweat shirt and a pair of combat boots. Everything with a kevlar weave through it. Dark smiled and happily put them on.

"Perfect work Steve." Dark said smiling, full of gratitude.

"You are very welcome." Steve replied, almost a sense of pride in the synthetic's voice.

Skylar sighs as only two of his attempts work. He stretches his legs out and looks at the floor where it did work and notices the cracks in the floor. He smiles at the force it creates and wants to try it once more. He crouches low to the ground once again decides instead of trying five times, three would be enough so his legs wouldn’t be tired for the day.

Skylar stumbles on his first attempt and lands on his shoulder. He rolls over on the ground onto his back and stares up at the ceiling. After a deep sigh, he gets up and puts on his ragged T-shirt with holes in the sleeves. Skylar refused most help from the Doctor and his goons. He still refuses to be called his employee. After his shirt is on, he slips his shoes on and glances over to the Pit Boy that Doctor Weird has given him.

Skylar grabs the Pit Boy and walks out of the room and attempts to locate the good Doctor himself. He has a lot on his mind that the doctor should be able to answer for him. As Skylar walks around the base, he finds himself lost.

Dr. Weird made his way into the conference room and sat down in the head chair. He then brought up the coordinates on the holo-projector in the middle of the table which showed a globe with a red arrow pointing to Munich Germany, and another display in front of him was a read out of weather and the status of the two SM III’s that he would bring with him.

“Steve call everyone and have them meet me here. We need to get ready to go.”

“Right away sir.”

Minutes later everyone was seated at the table looking at Dr. Weird.

“Good you all found your way here. I hope you all are feeling better after these past few days of rest because I have a new mission for today. And this time I will be going with you.” He hit a few keys and the floating globe shifted to a map of Munich Germany. “We will be going to Munich Germany. Through my research I have found that a crystal skull can be found there.”

The map changed once again to show an image of the crystal skull. The image itself seemed to be looking at everyone, peering deep into their souls.

“Crystals have an amazing talent for being able to store massive amounts of data, so I have decided that this would be perfect to store my backups on. And what a better way to announce ourselves by stealing a crystal skull. Now I will be pairing you all up into groups, Wolfman you’re with Syzmo, Puppet Master you are teamed with the Phantom Gun, and miss Hair with Flair will be with me.”

“Now when we arrive there we will begin the search in three different areas. When it is found contact the rest of us then hit the Home button on the com devices I gave you and a warp gate will open to bring us all back here. Oh and when you are looking for it try to be as inconspicuous as possible. We don’t want to raise attention to what we are doing there, but if you come across any trouble feel free to take care of it.”

“I will provide you with any weapon of aid that I am able to before we go out so are there any questions before we depart?”

Le crashes the successfully made hammer into the dummy. As she does though, the defenses of the room kick in and a knife comes flying out of the wall. Her hair springs to life and creates a cocoon around her body. Unlike in the past, this one solidifies itself and doesn't hug close to her, leaving about six inches between her and it. The blade bounces of the solid wall of hair. Le hears a crash outside of her cocoon. Dismantelling it, she finds that Daniel dropped the tray of food in his attempt to dodge the flying metal. Steve's voice rings out above them.

"So sorry Miss Tang. I must not have turned off the defense mode for this room."

"Quite alright, Steve. It was surprisingly welcome." I wonder if I can form the shield in smaller pieces or if it will always form a cocoon.

"I shall send a droid with a new tray of food. Where would the two of you like to breakfast?"

"Send some to wherever Daniel wishes. I'll be eating later. I have much to accomplish."

"Very well. Shall we head back to your room, Daniel?"

As Steve's voice dissipated, Daniel numbly walked out of the room. Le's thoughts had already moved on to practicing new tricks.

Dark crawled onto the table and crawled over to the holographic projection. He tried touching it, to find that his hand went right through it. Dark hadn't seen anything like this before, so naturally he was confused. He didn't say anything as Ike talked to the Doctor of all things Strange.

Dr. Weird examines the paper that Ike handed him.

“Hmm, I do have the components for this but they are in the other armories. I will have Steve prepare it and bring it to you shortly.”

“Steve, if you would. Please bring Mindbender here the rifle he requests.”

“On its way sir.”

While Dr. Weird was talking to Ike he noticed that Dark Coyote was crawling around on the table, gazing at the hologram. He laughed to himself that out of everything he has seen the hologram is what gets his attention.

In three days time Nimo had been introduced to everyone at the NSS. Everyone loved him despite his quiet nature, Professor Quantum was particularly fond of him. He was fitted with a smart suit by Warren Keihle and he excelled with training against Horace.

But President Jackson knew he was still young enough to make potentially complicated mistakes. He couldn't even count on Aquilo or Epoch 100% of the time. But that fact of the matter was that things had to keep moving and someone would have to field train little Nimo.

President Jackson had been keeping an eye on a one Prosper Meniere. He exhibited a classic case of Psionic Equilibrium Distortion. Users of this skill were rarely worse than Chaotic Neutral. Prosper had a history of criminal activity but Jackson was sure that he could be swayed to join the NSS.

Jackson closed his eyes and spoke in the mind of Akvo, "Aquilo, I need you in my office, bring our new friend."

Jackson drummed his fingers on his desk while he waited.

Why do I get the feeling that Aquilo will find a way to fuck up even this simple mission? I shouldn't be so critical, at least he's trying.

Jackson had sent Akvo on a solo mission to retrieve Skylar as a sign of good faith that Akvo was committed to the NSS' cause. Even though Akvo was unsuccessful, Jackson was very pleased with the debriefing. He couldn't have asked for more, in a four on one situation.

"Come in," Jackson said before Akvo's knuckles could make contact with the door.

"You wanted to see us." Akvo said, not asked, with Nimo at his side.

"Yes I've got another retrieval mission for you. This one should be significantly easier than the last, and since I'm not in the habit of making things easy for people, I want you to bring Nimo along so we can field train him.

"Who or what are we retrieving?" Akvo asked.

"A super named Prosper Meniere. He utilizes Psionic Equilibrium Distortion." Jackson said.

Nimo raised his eyebrows in question.

"He can induce nausea in his foes," Jackson elaborated "His current residence is solitary confinement in the section for supers at the Sioux Falls Prison in South Dakota."

"So we're breaking him out prison?"Akvo asks.

"Yes, but he should be fairly willing to go with you." Jackson replied.

"Why aren't we breaking any other supers out of the same area?" Akvo asks.

Jackson sighs, strong willed people can be so conflicted that it can be difficult to reason with them.

"Your current mission is to retrieve Meniere. If you are successful we may attempt at similar liberations in the future." Jackson explained, despite not being required to.

"When do we leave?" Akvo asks his final question.

"Five minutes ago." Jackson replies.
