Mire watched in the mirror as his form change from Skylar to Dark Coyote and then to Terran.

He failed on looking like the others. This minor success would please father, he knew it wouldn’t be enough to receive praise though. He would have to practice a lot more before he would be allowed out.

“If it helps try thinking that it’s like tensing up a muscle.” Steve called out to Mire, in an attempt to offer advice.

He reverted his appearance back to what it was.

“I can do this.” He looked into mirror once again and studied the photos.

Mire cycled through the appearances again and was pleased with the results. He even managed look like Dr. Weird which thrilled him.

“Congratulations, Mire I sure that Dr. Weird will be pleased with you progress when he sees the report.” Steve called out.

“Thank you Brother, I can feel myself getting stronger the more I practice.” Said Mire, no Terran Cole as he was currently wearing the guise of Terran; the persona Steve had helped him create.

He smiled as the he face shifted once more back to Mire.

“If I might make a suggestion Mire, it’s not enough to look like them. You need to act like them to. I have file footage recorded of their behaviors and movements. It would be a good idea for you to study them to make your guises more believable.”

“That not a bad idea, thank you Brother. If you would bring those up for me then.” Steve brought up several screens and began playing the needed imagery of everyone for Mire. As he started to study the footage he prepared to Shapeshift again.

Mire’s clay body constricted and morphed into Dr. Weirds appearance. It was a perfect copy of what the real Dr. Weird looked like. Everything was correct form the goggles to the burn marks and blood stains on the lab coat.

He shifted back to his original form, and watch in the mirror as the face of Dr. Weird morphed back to his. He smiled as he did so.

“Let’s go again, I am on a roll.”

One by one Mire had managed to pull off multiple changes. First was Ike, then Yilana, followed by Darksky, Skylar, Dark Coyote and ended with Terran Cole. He paused for a moment in-between each one to compare what was in the mirror with that in the photos. All of them were near perfect doubles.

“I think that is enough Shapeshifting for now,” Called out Steve. “Maybe you should try some combat practice instead.”

Mire didn’t want to, he wanted to keep morphing. But he knew the combat practice would be more beneficial in the future.

“If you say so Brother, if you would then set up some practice dummies for me then.”

“I already have, they are in the next room waiting for you.”

Mire had moved to the adjacent room where Steve had set up the target for him. It was large oval shape room spanning about 50 yards. Positioned in the room were a number of steel columns 5 feet tall placed about the room to act as targets.

He had set his sights on a column 10 feet from him, he readied his first attack. Mire had initially intended to smash the target using a battering ram, but instead when he stretched out his arm three orbs of clay went flying from his hand. They flew directly at the target, connecting knocking it over.

“What just happened?” Asked Mire, he had never done anything like that before.

“It would seem that you have gained to the ability to launch small portions of your body now.”

Mire just stood there looking at his hand the target 10 feet away covered in clay. Oh I am going to enjoy this, he thought to himself.

He had managed to accomplish his skill twice and hit targets #4 and #10. His body fired off
portions of itself at the targets making contact with a load thud. One was hit with enough force that it was knocked over while the other slid back about an inch. Both now were dripping with mud.

“Let’s try moving targets now Mire.” Announced Steve and cables came down from the ceiling and attached themselves to the columns and began to move about in random patterns.

Mire picked out another 10 targets.

This time with the moving target Mire had managed to hit #3, #7, and #9. Each shot connected with another thud making them sway to and fro from the shot.

Mire couldn’t help but be pleased with himself. Soon he thought that Dr. Weird would let him out and that he would be of use to his creator.

It was a number of months ago, but since he’s never seen the actual sun and didn’t know day from night. Time was irrelevant to Mire. All he knew was when he came to he was in a strange room covered in dirt and scorch marks. With many mechanical arm and devices taking readings from him as he sat there in the large glass bubble. Electrical wires where stuck into him but he felt nothing, it was then when he looked across the room. He saw through a window as a blast shield opened to reveal the man he would call Father.

When the room was declared safe by Steve he entered the room and approached the bubble that held Mire. He walked over to a console beside the bubble and after a few key strokes the bubbled opened and Mire dropped out onto the floor.

He introduced himself as Dr. Weird and told him that he was responsible for his existence. After that Dr. Weird had begun to run number tests on Mire of all sorts. He tested his durability, strength, and it was after he tested Mire’s constitution that his skills we discovered. Immediately after which Dr. Weird began to teach Mire a great many things. He also started him on training his skills. Dr. Weird had instructed Steve to let Mire watch a great number of movies. Of which Mire was instructed to study the faces, bodies, voices, and movements of the actors in the films.

Later on Dr. Weird had told Mire that once he was strong enough he would let him out of the lab and assist him in his work. To which of course Mire agreed whole heartedly, at least if he had a heart he would.

Mire had picked out another set of targets, the Shapeshifted into John Wayne, “Reach for the sky.” He called out.

Mire flung his arms out in the direction of his targets. Nothing happen on several of them but on three of them he made a connection. He shot his arm out on the first one pulled off a perfect shot that flew straight at the target. When he reached out to the second and third targets nothing happened. He moved on to the fourth, fifth, and sixth targets. Both arms were up and he concentrated, another shot went off and hit number four. But number five managed to be a dud. He looked over his shoulder at number six. Spinning around he punch six’s direction sending a chunk of mud flying. The shot connected with enough force that it knocked it off the cable and sent it flying backwards a few feet. The remainder of his attempts proved to be failiers.

“If might offer some assistance Mire. Seeing as how you firing off parts of your body as projectiles. How about referring to your body as a giant gun and the trigger is your mind.”

Mire thought about it for a minute and decided to give it a try. He didn’t have anything lose. This time he picked out only five targets.

The visualization seemed to work. One by one he hit the targets with the exaction of one. Although he tried for multiple shots on each target he only hit them once.

“Very good Mire, shall we keep going?” Asked Steve as he began to reset the room and clean up the mess Mire made.

“Yes let’s continue, I want to be stronger. If you would Steve, I want a challenge this time.”

“As you wish then, I think we’ll start you off on level 4 then.” The room started to change, the steel columns were taken out leaving only six remaining. Three swinging pendulums then dropped from the ceiling and began moving, while a door at the other end of the room opened and six training drones came in. Following the drones eight panels opened up, four in the walls, two from the ceiling, and two in the floor. “The goal here Mire, is to immobilize everything in the room.
You may use any means at your disposal to do so, but please remember I am the one who has to clean up afterwards.”

Mire just smiled as the as the training drones moved in on his position.

Mire felt an unfavorable chill, as if the voices of others rose up in angry protest and was silenced by three great powers. The recoil of which could be felt by Mire in the training room, suddenly he didn’t fell as strong as he did before. And this upset him, at least he was in a room to take out his aggression.

He turned to face the six droids, they were lined up perfectly for a strike.

Mire’s body shifted into a giant ball then hardened. At the speed he had built up he bowled right into the droids. Unfortunately he was off center by a few feet and only took out two of the six.
He stopped by turning back to his original form first a pool of mud on the floor then he rose up taking his humanoid shape.

The four training droids turned around and fanned out into a line so as to prevent any further strikes. The energy blasters were still charging and the pendulums had just reached full swing. They were in between the droids and Mire.

Mire picked up one of the steel columns and flung it at the droids but it hit one of the pendulums ricocheting into one of the laser cannons on the wall causing it to explode.

Mire began another charge.

Mire again turned into a giant stone ball and began rolling towards the training droids. Unfortunately they fanned put making it harder to hit them all. He rolled through two of the pendulums just missing them and finally hitting one of the droids crushing it, he continued on and flattened two steel columns. When he reached the other side he turn back and at that moment the lasers in the room started to fire. Thought the fire from them just passed right threw him.

He tuned to face the droids again and started another charge.

Rolling into another stone ball Mire took out one more on the training droids, leaving 2 left. Mire stopped when he ran into one of the pendulums knocking it down. He stood up proud of his accomplishment. The lasers were starting to annoy Mire, those have to go he thought.

Two clumps of clay went flying from his left hand hitting one of the laser’s energy cables and the other hit the condenser coils causing it to explode. From his right one flew went off and landed in the barrel causing a pressure over load resulting in a back fire in the system, leaving five left three in the walls and two from the floor.

The last two droids were moving in Mire thought it was as good a time as any to get rid of them.

Mire launched a mud bomb at the approaching droid, and it connected in its face plate blinding it. With optical sensors blocked he passed by Mire and wondered into the path of one of the pendulums slicing it in half.

The other one went down after Mire turned his hand into a mace a caved in the other droids head. Now the all the droids were taken care of Mire was moving on to the rest.

Mire fired out at one of the cannons on the wall, two pieces of his body went off crashing into the cannons base. Breaking it off sending it crashing to the floor.

He focused on the last two on the wall.

Two hardened pieces of Mires body went flying off and made contacted with two of the lazer turrets. Causing both of them to explode, Mire was proud of his accomplishment. The room was nearly empty now.
