Sol nodded and and began his way to the hanger, already prepared for the shit storm this mission was sure to develop into. His only hope was that it would end as quickly as it began. Being labeled a rogue hero would be the worst case scenario. People would be hurt... in Sol's escape.... or capture.

Each step echoing heavily through empty halls, Sol came upon a large metal door with HANGER displayed above it.

This frost raptor better be able to take the heat...

The freeze beams don't even come this time. Fortunately the cop flinches at the sight of Akvo's hand giving him a chance to strike again.

The energy beam connects with the cop's outstretched hand and he becomes encased with ice, his head the only thing showing.

Akvo swiftly approaches the copcicle and throws all of his weight through his fist and into cop's jaw.

He picks up the phone, mashing the *69 buttons and says "Do I look like a bitch Terry?"

"No." Said Terrance through obviously gritted teeth.

"Then why are you trying to fuck me like one?" replied Akvo, "Your hostages just lost an hour. If they're not here by eight I will see to it that they never see another morning."

"If you so much as give them the cold shoulder Frost Raptor… I'll…-" but Terrance was cut off.

"You'll do nothing because you're out there and there's three feet of ice between you and me. Want me to make it six feet?" Said Akvo, hanging up.

Skylar grits his teeth as the bard noesnt fall and the two bots that were on the ground get up and turn towards the tractor he is behind. He notices the Soldier staying behind the bots, wielding his gun more like a club now than anything. Skylar comes up with a crazy plan to make the barn fall. From cover. He locates some remaining rafters and pillars that are holding the structure of the barn up.

“Why are you after me!” Skylar roars out. He is angry at these people, he didn’t do anything. “It was an accident! Leave me alone!”

“You are a dangerous person Skylar Raige,” the soldier states. “You have already killed three innocent people. The government has issued the capture of ALL supers.”

Skylar grits his teeth even more. He sits behind the tractor in wait of what the bots will do.

Epoch ran into the hangar, ear piece in, suit intact. This had been an awful busy couple of days, and he realized that his mind was becoming stressed. What this the regular work load of a full-time hero? Well, perhaps this really was because of his choices that day.

"Welcome to hangar eighteen," Quantum had said, greeting Epoch, Sol had already arrived, and next to them both was Teaghan, who happened to be surrounded by a flock of nerdy looking science students.

She looked at Epoch with sour smile, "They are preparing to make me a room out of these hideous fibers," she mentioned.

Quantum smiled as man in a flight suit walked up, "This is Tom Blackheart," Quantum introduced the man, "The pilot of your escort."

Tom nodded and agreed, " We'll be flyin a modified Tupolev Tu-144, capable of Mach 2, nearly Mach 3."

Epoch was surprised. Hopefully the training at this school had prepared him for such a journey.

"Once Umbral arrives we will prepare you for take off," Quantum said to Epoch and Sol.

It seemed as if Umbral wasn't even in the meeting, Epoch had ignored his friendly gesture and so he decided it was probably better to keep to himself

Umbral stood up from his chair after all was said and began walking straight to the hanger, and he seemed angry, more people were being harmed for stupid reasons, he was not going to take that anymore.

The shadows around Umbral seemed to be moving wildly around him, his eyes turned completely black and his fists clenched as he said in a deadly voice, "He wont even see me coming...", "the darkness shall consume him...", Umbral had a smirk on his face, he had never looked like this before, he was ready.

Outside of the badlands

Dark's grip on the truck never wavered, though his hand was beginning to throb in pain. He knew he had to have some sort of infection. He knew that it was probably going to be nothing for awhile. He had gotten infected before but he wouldn't know until he got to the clinic. The thought of how he would pay riddled in his mind, but he had an idea. He would just need to be careful with it.

Soon the truck turned right. He closed his eyes and mentally picture where he was. He knew that the truck was going south which would mean they where now heading west. He smiled because he knew they would be in Hot Springs soon. When he got there he would quickly find the clinic so to get antibiotics and anything else he may need. His mind flashed to Dana saying he needed new cloths. He decided to worry about that once he got there. Maybe he could find a girl there to give a solid opinion as to what would be good to wear.

Epoch, Sol and Umbral had boarded the airplane and were strapping themselves in. Epoch's body was a little tense, unsure how the thirty minute flight would be, flying at more than Mach 2. Only someone with no sanity could possibly find this enjoyable.

The jet revved up and Quantum came over the ear piece, "Now remember boys, only Epoch is supposed to face Frost Raptor, Umbral and Sol, you have got to defend against the drones and soldiers. Just hold out long enough to get Raptor and get home. Good luck."

Epoch swallowed hard and the jet blasted off. Only thirty minutes....

The quiet of the room was not disturbed as the girl sat there, in awe of how much blood blemished her hands. She turned them over in all ways, mouth agape. Previous feelings of elation and content had flown the coop, but there was really no emotion to take its place, aside from the small amount of confusion itching at the back of her brain.

“What the hell…” was all Mara could whisper as she made her way across the room, grabbing a towel and heading towards the door. Burying her deeds and digits into the folds of the cloth, she quickly snuck into the deserted bathrooms. A bit of anger boiled from within as she metaphorically faced the only being that could have caused this; the beast in her brain. “What did you make me do?” asked the girl inwardly, wanting a reason as to why she was washing away sins she couldn’t recall. Mara could swear she heard the voice smile.

"I was weak, and I needed sustenance in order to keep you sedated." It said creepily, not at all as sweet as it had been talking earlier. There was a hiss-like chuckle before it spoke again. "I gain energy every time you take a life: whether it is through dreaming or misadventure."

The girl sighs, drying her hands now in her green towel, walking back towards her room. “So that’s how it works,” she says, closing the door and locking it behind her. The room’s lack of noise didn’t frighten her or upset her… but it was a little unsettling, as if someone might break the silence with a knock at her door, looking for answers she didn’t even have herself.

Mara lets out another exasperated breath, a little disappointed in the fact that she allowed herself to be used thanks to her petty addiction. Nonetheless, her current state of mind doesn’t allow her to get angry or frightened. Noting this, the voice whispers again to her.

“While feeding, I must have drained you of your emotions a bit as well.” Says the alien coolly, a bit of curiosity laced in its statement. “At the very least, you won’t have to deal with your anxiety for now. It would have been problematic to have irrational thoughts and fears at this point. Better start packing!” chimes the voice at the end.

“Packing?” asks the girl, looking up at the cheery command.

“But of course,” it retorts. “Why, you can’t stick around here; not after killing 5 students. I don’t think the nation, let alone the town, will be terribly happy about that one.”

Hands fly to her drawers after she grabs the suitcase in her closet, and it’s once empty carcass fills with belongings in seconds. The whole time, she thinks quietly to herself, still unsure as to the extent of what the alien can see or hear.

“I guess it’s true…” she concludes. “There’s no way I can stay here. I’ve only got one option.”

Thoughts flow in a rational river, the girl not missing a beat as she calmly collects everything she might need for the times to come. Her phone is the last thing she picks up, which is quickly slid into her coat pocket along with a business card that she no longer needs. Her dark suitcase wheels behind her, though periodically stops as she lets it lean against the hall wall as she steals into the dark rooms with open doors. She only goes through three of them, snatching whatever cash she finds in the immediate belongings of the now deceased. In the falling twilight, her eyes dilate and she is barely able to make out the figure in the last room: a girl whom she happened to have Speech with. “Those days are gone. And so are hers,” says Mara, cold words casted upon an equally cold body which lay on the blood-bathed floor. She can’t even identify what she might have killed her with, the deep gouges covering the corpse oozing black in the dimming sunlight.

With a furl of her long denim jacket, she leaves regrets and humanity behind. Mara flies down the stairs, breaking through the main entryway into the cool, November night. She double-checks her lists in her mind, finding her old red car in the parking lot and throwing her baggage into the back seat before pulling keys out of her coat. Her now full wallet made sitting down on it uncomfortable, and so she pulls it out, tossing it casually into the passenger seat. Lights flash on as the red beast roars to life, the gas needle going into seizures for a moment before landing an eighth of mark from Full. Soon, she is driving east of campus on Cherry Street, an increasingly malicious smirk finding its way onto her face. Pulling her phone out, she dials a familiar number into its tiny keypad.

Both her and the voice in her head wait in anticipation.

Ike spits some of his drink, then swallows and yells, "OH SHIT!!! FIRE!! I LOVE FIRE BUT OH CRAP THE ONLY CHICK IN THIS GROUP IGNITED!! SHIT SHIT SHIT!"

Ike looks at his bottle then to Yilana.

Ike tries to run but collapses forward and starts to scramble over to Dr. Weird and Dr. Takeshi who are just standing by giggle to themselves for some reason. "WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?!"

Skylar sighs as he cant get the vibrations to work into his hands. He runs over to the pillar on his left and gets behind it. He looks out on the bots and the soldier. The soldier looks afraid of Skylar. “So, without your gun you are afraid? Are the soldiers these days this weak?” Skylar smiles and puts his forehead to the beam and attempts his roar.

Just then a small cache of weapons rose from the floor. “Oh yes, help your selves to whatever you want form there.”

“Dr. Weird.”

“WHAT IS IT NOW STEVE?”

“Do you really have the time to be dealing with these soldiers, what about Frost Raptor.”

“HUH.” Dr. Weird thought about it for a moment. “SHIT I NEARLY FORGOT.” Turning to the others, “I am going to go see what it is that Frozen Turkey wants with me,” thinking for a brief moment.

“You two go and deal with the soldiers and I ask that you bring back any that are still alive.” Then looking at the SR388’s, “You six come with me the rest with them.”

“UP UP AND AWAY,” shouts Dr. Weird as he moves out of the garage with the six droids in tow. As he went flying off he lost power for a brief second.

“DAMN IT STEVE, YOU DIDN’T TEST FIRE THE ENGINES AFTER YOU PUT IT BACK TOGETHER.” Making the necessary adjustments Dr. Weird corrected the problem and with a sudden burst of speed he rocketed off in the direction of Rapid.

Skylars roar breaks the pillar and the barn shakes but doesn’t fall. He sees the bots turn from around the equipment and he immediately dives behind a tractor. He looks slightly over the tractor to watch the bots come around and move towards him. He looks right behind them and notices one of the bots close to the other pillar, he sighs and runs around the tractor until he gets close to the pillar. “Please work this time dammit!” He attempts seismic clap again to fall on one of the bots.

“Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Handguns…… Explosives…..yes I believe this will do just fine….heh heh heh” Takeshi spoke, walking back and forth scanning over the long rack of weaponry, an even greater look of excitement now across his face.

The extensive rack of weaponry and armor was ever so nicely labeled by the countries of origin all the way to ammo classification…

"Ah yes, the German HK G36 Assault Rifle, a perfect bringer of carnage if I do say so myself,” Takeshi deviated letting out a slight chuckle, slipping on a dragon scale vest under his trench coat then grabbing the gun from the rack.

Takeshi then looked back at his soon to be partner in crime, now engulfed in a brilliant orange inferno.

“Well, well, well, I do believe we are ready to go……… let’s go raise some hell on earth….. shall we?” Takeshi inquired, a wide grin across his face.

Ah yes, this will be exciting indeed, after years of super’s eluding me… I will be able to fight side by side with them…

“WHAT THE HELL?” Dr. Weird reached into his pocket and pull out his PKE smartphone. “SINCE WHEN DO I CARRY A FUCKING PHONE?” He began to thumb through the missed calls and voice mail.

“Who’s been calling me, and who the hell has this number.” He plays the message on the phone; it was from a young girl who said her name was Mara. Dr. Weird began to think of who this girl was and how she got this number even he didn’t know about.

Suddenly it hit Dr. Weird just as a lone Sterling hit him. “THAT’S RIGHT; she was the girl from the Subway yesterday. Crap, she has been trying to call me all day.” Thinking it over for a little bit, “I guess I should call her back.”

He hit callback button on his phone, while he waited to see if she would pick up he thought he would try scrying Akvo again. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the snippet that held Akvos now dried blood.

“Oh that’s right, this is how this works.” After his eyes refocused in he could see the factory once more. It seemed that there was some sort of accident. A section of floor was roped off and large spill of disinfectant was in the center of it.

The ground rushed past with near blinding speed, making it impossible to pick out specific objects. Sol sat quietly in his chair, eyes closed and mind clear. Preparing mentally for the events ahead.

The sun was getting low... I'll have to be sure not to over expend my energy. Hopefully it'll be over quick. This was not a good time to get into a big firefight.

His eyes closed once again, and his mind went blank.
