With luck, Epoch shot up from the ground and launched at the reptile. It was clear that the Korulian was astonished. Epoch extended his arm and prepared for contact.

Folding into the reptile's stomach, Epoch swiftly landed a kick in its gut. The Korulian gasped as its eyes rolled back. There goes another one, Epoch thought as he stood over the ground shaker. He lifted his head to peer at Rixil.

There was no help to be had from his new skills, nor his new partner. Epoch seemed to be preoccupied with his own enemy, and so the young Korulian moved on to the next opponent. The closest one was a tall, bony figure that stood not more than 5 feet away.

Leaping across the distance, Rixil planted his foot firmly into the creature’s back. He had been hoping that the cloaked figure would be taken down by the force, but instead, it tucked and rolled on impact, sending Rixil flying further still. It was all he could do to land elegantly before turning to face his failure. Rune-covered hands shot out from the robes and began to pull at the air, an old voice chuckling from beneath the dark hood.

The Korulian attempts to use air-bending to enhance his speed, 1-5 it fails, 6-10 success.

Epoch smirked as he saw Rixil face the spindly foe. The Korulian hadn't a chance when his spell failed, it would be nice to see what Rixil had in store. In that moment, Epoch's cheek bone feelt warm, and it hurt as his head whipped to the side. A Korulian fist met his face with ferocity.

"Good God!" Epoch shouted, grasping his face. "No honor among enemies," he muttered, turning to the Korulian. The reptile had its head entirely enveloped by its hood. It's eyes glowing and eerie purple.

Epoch took a powerful punch to the shoulders. It nearly knocked the wind out of him, not to mention that he went skidding across the polished floor. The reptile seemed to smile, but it refrained from mocking its opponent. Perhaps it held a special respect for the kindred teleporter.

Epoch rubbed his shoulder as he rolled onto his knees. It hurt, but he was far from toast. Hell that day at Lake Helen gave him more trouble than this. Epoch wasn't sure how to take an adversary that was equipped with one of his own tricks. He struggled to his feet and started to run toward the Korulian.

Epoch landed on the Korulian and suddenly something changed. Epoch's skin became pale, his eyes became a brilliant blue, his blue hair was now streaked with deep black. He could see things he could not before. He could see the Chronotons around him and attached to others. It was an immense experience. Is this what it felt like to become God? The world was now so loud and spectacular.

He looked down at the Korulian he landed on. It was unmoving. Epoch got up and looked down. The creature was frozen. Trapped in time. "I stopped him," Epoch said. Suddenly, the Korulian came back into time. Epoch could see it. The Chronotons became active again. The reptile stood and seemed terrified. Out of respect, the Korulian knelt and muttered something in a foreign tongue. Epoch understood it as a match. He then looked with his new eyes to behold Rixil.

Despite the old Korulian’s failed attempt at air-bending, the tall figure dashed forward.

Rixil had only a few seconds before those long, spindly legs would deliver his enemy to him. Glints of light were reflected off metal, two daggers being raked out of the challenger’s cloak as he closed in.

“Old one, you stand no chance…” sneered the young blonde, readying his own daggers.

Repeated clangs rang out from the now-heated fight as the two Korulian’s danced about each other, parrying blows. The younger of the two twirled about, more agile in his movements than his counterpart. Up close, Rixil could sense how ancient his opponent really was. Despite the frail appearance of his adversary, he was still challenged by the way the old one waltzed around his every movement. There was an elegance there that was not too different from his own…

Almost mesmerized for a moment, the adolescent was knocked out of his trance by a slice that clipped his side. Wincing, he threw the enemy back with a thrust before letting his hand graze the spot where he had been hit.

Bandages that had been wrapped there fell loose, soaking up dark blood as it began to ooze from the fresh wound. He was only allowed a brief glance at the fluid on his fingertips before the foe flung himself forward again.

“I need to move faster!” shouted Rixil inwardly as the dark figure loomed above him.

The sudden weight of the attacker was enough to throw Rixil off balance again, and he was quickly forced to jump back.

“If he lands another blow, I might not be much help to Epoch.” Thought the blonde lizard. He cursed inwardly, not only at the literal gap between him and his enemy, but the metaphorical distance between his capabilities, and the old Korulian’s expertise. The only chance he really had at defeating this enemy was to become as fast as light…

“Or create enough daggers to shower the place.” Rixil realized, eureka only apparent in his constricted pupils. The rune branding his arm quickly lit up as he hastily tried to focus on moving and shooting at the same time.

The small glimmer of hope that had been kindled moments ago was quickly snuffed out as the mark of light dwindled back to a ghostly white against Rixil’s skin.

Looking up from the disheartening distraction, he was met face to face with his attacker, a grin on the old alien’s face. Legitimate surprise washed over his features as he made a step back. “I didn’t even hear footsteps!” hissed the blonde.

But before he could get away again, the smiling assailant threw a swift kick at Rixil’s feet, the rest of him toppling towards the ground as they were knocked from beneath him.
“I had my suspicions when I first saw you darting around like a ray of light, but I had to fight you on these terms.” Said the cloaked Korulian, gesturing with his daggers. Large, clawed feet came down on Rixil’s arms, holding him in place as the native-speaking alien continued. “I needed to, just to be sure…” With that, one of the feet scrapped across the younger Korulian’s arm, turning it towards the towering foe so that the Mark of Darkness was visible.


“And I was right!” scoffed the enemy, almost in disbelief. “A young Lord; how did you get here, Tarox?”

Epoch stood, feeling stranger than ever. His opponent backed away and there was still a throng of enemies remaining. However, he was not assaulted. His eyes were so prominently blue, that they almost appeared to glow. They pierced the eyes of the onlooking Korulian as Epoch searched for Rixil.

Rixil and an odd reptile were talking in their native tongue. The two shared glowing runes, but Epoch saw a different glow. He could see the two's Chronotons. He wasn't sure why, but Rixil seemed to have a larger glow than the other. Why could that be?

Epoch's world surrounded him in a blue glow. Everything was alive, ablaze with movement and quantity. More so, Korulians slunk aback from him, not certain if they should attack, or leave the being alone. It was quite probable that they had never witnessed a human before, and could be trying to take in his form and weaknesses. Epoch assumed that all things in the universe could evolve. Perhaps most did not develop in the same way, however, growth was all around him.

He finally focused on Rixil. He wasn't sure why, but Rixil displayed two oddities. The young Korulian's chronotons vibrated at a different rate, Epoch concluded that it was a result from time Traveling. Even more bizarre, Rixil shone with a greater mass than the other Korulian who all varried. What was this variable?

He saw reality. Rixil was pinned beneath an older looking Korulian. Epoch had waited too long an should have acted quicker. This new world was something to behold, however. "Rixil." He said, aiming his strong left hand at the older reptile. Two pops should toss the character.

The two blasts flew miraculously. Epoch was amazed at their beauty in his new world. he could see them swim through space, propelled by the decay of time. He felt, deep inside, a change. Something clicked. He had found a new plateau in his ability to manipulate his wellspring of energy.

The blasts popped the older Korulian in the shoulder and buffaloed him off of Rixil. Epoch ran, knocking very unpleased reptiles out of the way, the battle would have to wait a minute. He bent over, looking into his companion's eyes with his new, bluer, ones. He extended an arm and said, "Rixil, are you all right?"

Shaking the bewilderment from his face, Rixil grasped at the extended arm of his companion. Epoch’s appearance was welcomed, despite changes in his appearance. The lizard couldn’t help but scan over the human’s new form… it was hard to call him human, as the time traveler had ascended to some higher form. Rixil kind of admired the change, noting that Epoch actually resembled his own race more so than his actual species. There was power in the time traveler's touch as he pulled the blonde to his feet.

“I will manage; the wounds aren’t that deep.” Said the alien, tugging blood-crusted strips of cloth from his chest. With a few quick jerks, the soiled linen fell to the floor, leaving his wound and ribs visible just beneath the crop of his cowl.

As the bandages came undone, his mindset threatened to do so also. He glanced over to the Korulian that had been on top of him moments ago, the old one’s words still ringing in his ears- specifically the name that he had heard.

Reminded of the true villain, Rixil turned towards the shrine where CIR’s leader had been standing at the beginning of the encounter. He was still there, hands open wide in an offer to the ominous statue.

Epoch watched as Rixil's attention was drawn to the Korulian with its hands in the air. There was stilla good sized horde, and Epoch didn't want any interruptions if they were to face the leader so soon, who knows what trouble he could cause.

Grasping his left wrist with his right hand, he stabilized his arm. This ought to get rid of the rest of them Epoch thought as he focused his energy. He had never attempted a blast so large, but he knew he had the energy to do so. If it worked, it would make a twenty foot diameter blast that would chase the reptiles right out of the chamber.
